Organized by Tranzit Foundation (Cluj) in collaboration with Joanne Richardson and Next 5 Minutes (Amsterdam). An international conference, media festival and networking event intended to start a debate on broadcasting standards, to discuss the meaning of public domain, and to examine the possibilities for minor media production and innovative media literacy models. The D Media group crystalized during this event.

Synthetic Light
Organized by Vasile Ernu of Idea Foundation (Cluj) in collaboration with Joanne Richardson. A critical approach to advertising. Examination of the social, ethical and aesthetic dimensions of the public dissemination of visual information at a time when all information seems to have become a subcategory of advertising. Proposals for counter-advertising strategies and alternative mythologies that can unify communities around different values.

Media Culture and the Public Sphere
Organized by Joanne Richardson in collaboration with Vasile Ernu from Idea Foundation (Cluj). A two part symposium: a presentation of media culture initiatives from Hungary (C3, Tilos Radio, Kultiplex and the Sziget festival), and a presentation and discussion of the tactical use of the public sphere in different local contexts (Miklos Erhardt, Hungary; Tania Goryucheva, Russia, Eric Kluitenberg, Netherlands).

Roundtable on Alternative Media
Organized by Joanne Richardson of D Media in collaboration with the Media Monitoring Agency, (Bucharest). A discussion and debate with the audience about the lack of independence of the mass-media in Romania and about what makes alternative media “alternative.” Presentation of different models for alternative media production: participative media, community media, grassroots media.

Eclectic Tech Carnival 2006, Timisoara
Organized by Nita Mocanu of D Media (Cluj), WAITS Foundation and h.arta (Timisoara) and Genderchangers (Amsterdam). [ ETC ] is a yearly festival dedicated to new technologies, organized by women for women. The Romanian edition focused on gender and technology, do-it-yourself culture and free software. It featured days and nights of theoretical presentations, roundtable discussions, hardware and software workshops and screenings.
